Jumping for joy

Need a place to take the kids? Bored of your current gym classes? Want to awaken your inner child? We have just the place for you.

While Cornwall has always been able to boast an amazing array of things to do and see there has always been something missing; something that makes children jump for joy and adults immediately revert back to their childlike selves; something that offers fun, exercise and a chance to completely lose oneself in the moment. But what could this joy-inducing thing be? Trampolines!

Having grown up with trampolines I was so excited to hear that a trampoline park was opening in Cornwall and was all too eager to find out as much as I could about what this bouncy haven has to offer.

The park boasts a jaw-dropping 66 trampolines, a dodgeball court and a foam pit; it’s no wonder the park is proving immensely popular! You can even challenge your friends to a precarious duel on the battle beams where every second is a fight to avoid the foam pit below. Or, test yourself by taking on the ninja warrior challenge, one of the first indoor obstacle courses in the south west. The course involves swinging and climbing your way through this exciting experience and challenging your all-over body strength.

Indeed, this trampoline park offers an ideal place to get in shape while having a blast as the fitness classes offer something a little different to your usual gym experience. The classes provide a total body workout and improve speed, reflexes and stamina – and they are fabulously fun! In fact, NASA has studied the benefits of using a trampoline to burn calories and increase fitness!

They found that just ten minutes of trampolining burns the same number of calories as jogging for half an hour, making it an effective, low-impact and fun form of exercise.

Jump 4 is the creation of businessman Robert Kujawski, and his wife Gabi, who set up the park to provide a much-needed facility to combine fun and fitness in the area. Robert says: “Trampolining is one of the fastest-growing activities in the UK, not least because it is fun, affordable and open to all ages and abilities, as well as being a fantastic way to keep fit. We wanted to bring this opportunity to the people of Cornwall with our state-of-the-art trampoline park.” It isn’t just small groups that are catered for either. The venue is ideal for children’s birthday parties, with free range of the 66 trampolines and foam pits followed by refreshments in the café, as well as corporate functions, as the exercise is perfect for team building!

Of course, not everyone will be itching to swap the ground for a trampoline. Luckily, the on-site café serves a full American-style menu, with tasty offerings including burgers, hot dogs and vegetarian options. This welcoming spot is ideal for parents relaxing while the kids jump to their hearts’ content. The café even has a soft play area for the really little ones and TV monitors showing a live feed of the trampoline park.

The owners have no intention of resting on their laurels either, as the aim is for the park to be industry leading. Robert adds: “We will continue to invest in Jump 4, having exclusive pieces of equipment that make the park an unforgettable experience for all of our visitors.”

Since opening in December 2016, the park has welcomed visitors of all ages, from toddlers enjoying a ‘little jumpers’ session to grandparents getting in shape at a fitness class. Jump 4 is open all day, every day of the school holidays, so it’s the perfect venue for having fun when the kids are off school, with the bonus of being great for fitness – whatever the weather.
