A look back at life on the coast in days gone by
The early morning dance on Flora Day, Helston (1907)
We recently stumbled across this beautiful photo that shows people lining the streets as the end of the early morning dance goes by. This scene can still be seen today as crowds continue to flood the streets and dancers dress up in their finest attire. Indeed, with flags hanging joyfully overhead and the large drum keeping the beat, it is easy to imagine this scene as the Flora Day we know and love today.
This year’s celebration will be on Saturday 6th May, so come along and see if you can spot the similarities between now and way back then.
