Giorgi Holland from Iroka explains how the interior design company restyled a St Ives holiday home.
When it comes to kitting out your holiday home, it takes a lot these days to impress the most discerning guests. So, if you want to create a stunning bolthole without the stress, whether to enjoy yourself or to achieve the best return, it really does pay to speak to a professional design agency. With this in mind, Giorgi Holland, Lead Interior Designer of Iroka, gives us the lowdown on the team’s stunning renovation of No 16 St Nicholas Court, perfectly situated between both Porthminster and Porthgwidden beach in St Ives.
“Iroka was recently contracted to refurbish this beautiful, spacious contemporary holiday apartment to the highest of standards,” explains Giorgi, “with a brief to offer maximum guest capacity with ease of living in maximum style.”
The apartment has been finished with a sleek and contemporary style, subtly infused with a coastal feel. “Combining neutral tones and textures with the occasional splash works extremely well with warm oak detail on freestanding furniture,” says Giorgi.
“Wood plank wallpapers on feature walls create a ‘beachey’ surf feel in keeping with the overall scheme.” For durability, ‘Parisian Pine’ whitewashed wood flooring from Amtico was laid in an elegant herringbone pattern throughout the living areas, whilst a super soft wool carpet fitted in the bedrooms for a cosy feel.
“A bespoke hotel style headboard was installed in the second bedroom, along with zip and link bed set in the third bedroom for maximum capacity. A combination of made-to-measure roman blinds and curtains were selected throughout the entire property. A combination of delicate sheers and full curtains were installed in the master bedroom for the ultimate privacy… and style of course!”
A minimalist kitchen was designed individually with infinite storage solutions in mind. The tactile matt sky blue and white washed wood cabinets were installed by Iroka’s team of fitters, along with the durable yet cost effective work top product called Apollo. “This product is a 6mm solid through coloured mineral material,” says Giorgi, “with an acrylic polyester resin pigment base on a fibreboard subframe.”
Finally, the outside space was transformed into a Mediterranean style courtyard, complete with a modern outdoor dining set in powder-coated aluminium and PVC chairs to ensure longevity against the elements.
