Take five

Our five-step guide to buying your very own Cornish holiday home, with a little help from the experts at Peter Bull Resorts.

If you’re joining the ranks of those who’ve decided to buy a holiday home, Peter Bull Resorts has helped us create this simple five-step guide to buying a holiday caravan or lodge.

Choose your location

Location is crucial to the enjoyment of your holiday home, so choose wisely. Of course, the distance from your home needs to be considered, however it’s crucial that you love the location, meaning looking slightly further afield can often be worthwhile! Cornwall has something for everybody, whether you’re looking for beaches, watersports, fine dining or fresh crab on a quayside.

Decide which holiday park is right for you

Not all holiday parks are created the same. Some are better for families, while others lend themselves more to couples looking for peace and quiet. There are other practical considerations to be made, too. For instance, is the site open all year round? Peter Bull Resorts’ parks all have a 12-month season, meaning you can holiday whenever it suits you.

Find a holiday home that meets your needs

Lodges and static caravans come in many shapes and sizes, ranging from budget options right the way through to large, luxurious lodges. Think about the layout; open plan is very popular, but if you have kids, some separate space may well be needed. And, if your budget is tight, opting for a pre-loved caravan may be a more viable option.

Running costs

Like many major purchases, it’s not just the initial cost you need to consider, but those of running and upkeep, too. All holiday parks have site fees, which vary from park to park. Maintenance costs are generally low, as modern caravans are solidly built, but you’ll certainly need to factor in the cost of utilities, and insurance is essential!

Read the small print

The Peter Bull team says: “Always read the license thoroughly before putting pen to paper. The purchase agreement outlines the rights and responsibilities of you and the park, so you want to be happy with all the aspects!”

And that’s it! To find out more about purchasing a static caravan or lodge at one of Peter Bull’s Cornish holiday parks, why not get in touch? You never know, it could turn out to be your best buy yet!
