Textiles by Lou Tonkins
Cornish artist and printmaker Lou Tonkins takes her inspiration from the local environment – nature and the hedgerows. “I sit for hours looking at birds flitting in and out,” says Lou, “to get an idea of the way they move and stand so I can get the feel of them right.” There’s a comprehensive range of Lou Tonkins textiles in The Poly Guild, Falmouth.

3. A GREAT ESCAPE ART
Seaweed and Mussels scarf/wrap by Stuart Law
A Great Escape Art expands its range. Artist Stuart Law’s original watercolours and acrylics are now available as luxurious silk scarves.
This rich and vibrant collection includes ‘seaweed and mussels’, ‘plants and flowers’, ‘nets and floats’ and ‘fish and lilies’. Visit the online shop to select from the scarf and wrap collection, or see Stuart’s stand at the Falmouth Oyster Festival, 12th to 15th October.

Truro’s Lane Gallery is a collective of local artists who each cover daily duties to welcome you. Traditional and abstract art plus beautiful jewellery and turned wood are on display. The entrance is through Scentstore Perfumery and upstairs to the colourful gallery.

6. CSCAPE ART
Late Shift by Sarah Blakey
The Craft Kiln (Cornish crafts), Sail Loft Emporium (antiques and collectables) and Cscape Art are part of The Old Workshop, next to the main Charlestown car park. Many originals, prints and cards by artist Sarah Blakey, and photographer Mick Blakey are available at the gallery. Open daily during the season, 10.30am to 5.30pm.

7. Penlee House Gallery & Museum
Lily in Landscape by John Armstrong
This surrealist-inspired view of Lamorna is one of over 70 works by John Armstrong (1893 – 1973) in Penlee’s ‘Dream & Reality’ exhibition, which opens on 16th September. Originally associated with Ben Nicholson and the Unit One artists in the 1920s, John went on to cut his own imaginative path through 20th century art, notably as the costume designer for Alexander Korda’s classic films.

10. ANDREW GIDDENS OPEN STUDIO/GALLERY
Lizard walk by Andrew Giddens
Andrew Giddens Open Studio showcases paintings by the renowned Cornish seascape artist, in his permanent ‘open studio’, displaying and selling all his latest work in the delightful village setting of Perranuthnoe, near St Michael’s Mount. Open 10am to 3pm, Monday to Saturday.

A delightful, unusual gallery at the top of the town. All artists and makers live or work within 20 miles of Porthleven. Owner and resident designer, Julia Schofield, is currently introducing her autumn collection of original Special Occasion jewellery. She works in many materials and styles, from simple and dainty to the stunningly dramatic.
