New build properties: what’s the snag?
If you hate DIY, then buying a new-build certainly has its appeal: move in, put your feet up, and relax. But what happens when you start discovering that some of the doors won’t shut, and your apples are rolling off a wonky kitchen worktop? The answer is a snagging survey.
Minor problems, known as snags, are common in newly-built homes. Ideally, you want to pick up on these before you move in – after all, the developer has far more incentive to fix things fast before you hand over your money! A snagging survey will pick up on issues so that you can get them resolved in advance.
Your solicitor should also make sure specific provisions are included in the contract, requiring the developer to resolve any on-going issues that might have been missed. You can then enjoy your new home, without worrying about bruised apples!

Carbis Bay Hotel’s C Bay Spa receives a 5 Bubbles rating!
The Good Spa Guide reviews spas based on their trademark ‘bubble rating’, which ranges from one to five. The Guide recently praised Carbis Bay Hotel, Spa & Estate for C Bay Spa’s coastal setting, describing the views as ‘hard to beat’ and adding that the spa is thoughtfully designed to make the most out its distinctive position, with floor-to-ceiling windows. Owner and director of C Bay Spa, José Baker says: “We’re absolutely thrilled to retain our 5 Bubble rating with The Good Spa Guide. It’s a testament to our highly skilled and trained team who perform our treatments with the greatest care.” The spa has now earned a ‘5 Bubbles’ rating for three years running, so the team is certainly doing something right. Kernow Springs’ Roaming Wild Spa seeks permanent location
Kernow Springs has appeared throughout the West Country in all kinds of locations, from manor houses to clifftops and now, the company’s popular Wild Spa is seeking a permanent, year-round home.
We speak to Project Manager, Nicola Dean, who explains: “Sometimes your typical spa experience can seem too clinical. Our approach is much simpler. Our Wild Spa is really stripped back, allowing clients to immerse themselves in all the traditional elements of water, earth, fire and air in a blissful spa experience that’s unlike anything they’ve tried before.
“We’ve had quite a few offers on the table so far, from private manors to country estates. We’re keeping our options open, and hope to find just the right location to suit our business model soon.”
What could be more appealing than Scandinavian wood-fired hot tubs; Finnish wood-fired barrel saunas; hot showers; cold plunge pools; a Bedouin relaxation lounge; furnished changing yurts and bell tent treatment rooms, all sited in a beautiful, Cornish, outdoor location?
If you think your business or venue would suit a collaboration with Kernow Springs, be sure to get in touch.
