Vintage splendour

Travel in style on the Belmond British Pullman.

Are you in need of a treat, or do you want to treat that special someone? Cornish charity Cornwall Hospice Care is once again hosting a very special day out with a difference on the Belmond British Pullman – sister train to the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express – and there are just a few seats left. This fabulous dining experience, which is set to take place on Saturday 28th April, could be exactly what you’re looking for!

Departing from Penzance and Truro, you’ll be served with a glass of famous sparkling Bellini and a sumptuous brunch as you head to Bishops Lydeard. Here, you’ll be transferred by coach to Dunster Castle and gardens. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can pay a visit to the ancient harbour at Watchet on the West Somerset Heritage Railway and brush up on your history of steam.

As you return to your luxury carriage for the journey home, Champagne and canapés will await. You’ll then be served a sumptuous four-course dinner with wine, all of which can be enjoyed while admiring the stunning West Country views as they roll by outside.

Oli Hoare, Cornwall Hospice Care’s Head of Fundraising, tells us: “Our Belmond British Pullman events are always enormously successful, providing a day of vintage splendour in historic carriages that are reminiscent of a period when luxury train travel was of an extremely high standard. Many of our guests return each year to enjoy this decadent experience, knowing they are also making a difference to families living with terminal illnesses.” A £95 deposit will secure your seat, and the balance of £300 is to be paid by the end of March, so there’s plenty of time to afford this luxury treat, especially if you’ve a loved one who deserves to be spoilt. But be quick, because seats are selling fast!
