On the creek’s edge

By the banks of Frenchman’s Creek on the Helford river, in the heart of a breathtaking Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty lies Kestle Barton.

Kestle Barton is an award-winning and beautifully restored Cornish farmstead that’s home to both a superb art gallery and five beautiful self-catering holiday rentals.

you’ll find an orchard, a nuttery as well as a far-reaching wildflower meadow…”

The gallery, which is highly regarded, presents around four exhibitions every year, reopening this year on 24th March for the spring/summer season. All of the free exhibitions and projects come from artists who are either based in the area, or are strongly connected to it, and they include some internationally known and celebrated artists whose work has particular resonance in Cornwall.

Onto the accommodation and there’s something to suit everyone. There’s Avallen – a large, luxurious and contemporary barn conversion that sleeps eight – and then there’s Howthere, a stylish boutique retreat for two. For something more traditional, step back in time with the beautifully restored Kestle Barton Farmhouse. All guests have access to the beautiful gallery gardens, where you’ll find an orchard, a nuttery as well as a far-reaching wildflower meadow for both guests and gallery visitors to enjoy. Two of the larger properties are also dog friendly, meaning even your furriest of friends can enjoy this beautiful corner of Cornwall.

Kestle Barton can also host wedding receptions and other special events by arrangement. The combination of beautiful outdoor spaces and plenty of comfortable guest accommodation makes it one of the most attractive venues in the area. Indeed, combine this with the romantic accommodation of Howthere barn – the perfect honeymoon suite, with its sleeping mezzanine and sumptuous bath by the bed – and you have the ideal location in which to tie the knot!

The tiny village of Helford, with its ancient and friendly pub, as well as a combined delicatessen, bakery and village shop, is just a ten-minute walk away. Bring a torch and amble back after dark through the woods to your holiday retreat; make the most of the superb sailing waters; explore the wooded valleys and creeks; discover the impossibly charming fishing villages, National Trust clifftops, pristine beaches and sweeping heathland. All of this is right at your fingertips when staying at Kestle Barton, so why not get in touch with Forever Cornwall and book your next escape?
