Cornwall Living 2017

On trend

Interpreting seasonal trends into Cornish homes is the mission of Homeshed’s design team.

Homeshed, a lifestyle interiors store just outside Falmouth, has fast become one of Cornwall’s leading destinations for home furnishings and accessories. Whether you are embarking on the interior design of your seaside sanctuary, furnishing your own home or choosing décor for a holiday let, the expansive 21,000sqft showrooms include a range of classic to contemporary furniture in design-led styles that appeal to the most discerning tastes.

Achieving a harmony of contemporary beach chic, whilst retaining the more rustic sense of Cornish character is the mission of the design team at the Homeshed, who are passionate about capturing that elusive Cornish lifestyle spirit – from the nautical vibe of Falmouth to the chic of St Mawes or the coastal couture of St Ives and interpreting it to bring every living space to life.

A visit to Homeshed will enhance every room, be it a Cornish townhouse, villa, cottage, apartment or even a yacht! Its magnificent lanterns, voile curtains, tableware, glass, ceramics, candles and garden and terrace artifacts subtly blend Mediterranean nuances with the minimalism of Scandinavian design in a style that is somehow perfect for the Cornish home.

Homeshed showcases an eclectic range of lifestyle interiors, including luxurious leather and fabric sofas, dining furniture, curtains, blinds and lighting. Naturally, there is also a focus on bedroom furniture and the bed department includes beds, bedframes and mattresses to tempt every budget – from space-saving modular Stompa children’s bedroom furniture, to branded Somnus, Silent Night and Kaymed mattresses and beds. Some of the latest bedroom furniture, as seen in this article, is available to try in the showroom.

“Recreating this season’s look is all about accessorising, as the autumn 2016 design collections focus on accents with some statement pieces,” explains Charlotte, Homeshed’s Interior Designer. “Whilst neutrals are the essence, the key to enlivening this understated look lies in the room accents… Happily, the seasonal colour trends include warm tones of peach, pink, sand, white, mint and cool blues.”

Charlotte continues: “Choose a beautifully designed chair in a cool grey – perfect in front of a picture window or just to curl up and read a book in. This curved high backed chair from is one of my favourites.”

Warm up a nonworking fireplace with cosy accessories such as cushions and throw-filled baskets, lanterns with long burning candles and a luxury silk rug from Calvin Klein. This will not only give you access to warm blankets (see the inspiring range of Atlantic Blankets in the showroom) but the soft light from candles will create a warming glow on darker autumn evenings.

Of course, no home is complete without beautiful flooring. Homeshed is one of Cornwall’s leading carpet showrooms with over 20,000sqm available in roll stock and a vast selection of wool carpet and rugs in a wide range of colours and designs from leading brands, including Axminster, Cormar and Abingdon, Kersaint Cobb, Gaskells, Brintons, Fibre seagrass, luxury rugs from Calvin Klein and many more to choose from their large selection.

If you’re looking for luxury flooring with all the beauty of natural wood and stone without the practical drawbacks, both Amtico and Karndean flooring have a wide range so you’ll always find a look that’s right for you. Featuring the unique characteristics you’d expect in traditional wood flooring, Karndean planks are designed for authenticity with variable shades and tones. Amtico allows you to introduce colour and pattern to your home with a design-led range, making your floor unique to your home.

Homeshed’s friendly team will guide you through choosing the most suitable flooring, furniture and accessories for every room in your home; call into the store and find everything you need under one roof.
