Energy Matters

Looking for a renewable alternative in energy? GreenGen leads the way.

probably pondered over ways to reduce your ever-increasing heating and electric bills. With traditional energy sources, such as gas and oil, rapidly increasing in price over the last decade, and the cost of renewable installations decreasing, people have been turning to renewables as an alternative to power their homes and businesses.Over the past 10 years, the number of people switching to renewable energy has grown significantly. You can lower the cost of heating and powering your home by converting naturally-occurring energy sources into heat and electricity. In the majority of instances, homeowners who have invested in either solar PV or an air source heat pump can see their respective bills reduced by between 30 and 50 percent. However, what a lot of people don’t know is that through various government-led incentive schemes, renewable installations have changed from being a way to reduce energy bills to become a profitable, long-term investment.Examples of such incentive schemes are the Feed-in Tariff and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). These are schemes set up by the government to incentivise the uptake of renewable installation. The two schemes, in effect, provide payments to the user for the renewable energy their systems produce, be it heat or electricity.

Solar photovoltaic panels (PV) are what you see on the roofs of houses, converting the sun’s rays into electricity. They are the most commonly installed source of renewable energy, eligible for Feed-in Tariff payments and can reduce your electricity bills by up to 50 percent. A 4kW domestic installation of Solar PV will pay itself back in approximately six to eight years.

Air source heat pumps are another option and have grown in popularity over the past five years. They are now one of our most popular systems. Similar to an air conditioning unit working in reverse, air source heat pumps are one of the most efficient renewable energy alternatives available, capable of outputting over three times the energy they take in.

All of GreenGen’s installations are eligible for these payments, and the team is experienced with helping customers reach the eligibility criteria of the schemes. So make the most of a free survey today.
