Rural Retreat for a Sweet or Savoury Treat
From humble beginnings The Waymarker has developed dramatically in five years of operating from its rural location in the picturesque North Helford.
The first achievement was a highly reputed Sunday Roast Lunch which is served weekly from noon through to 5pm. In September 2014 they were crowned champions in the “Truly Cornish Clotted Cream Tea” category of the choose Cornish food & drink awards and remarked by the judges as “making this quintessentially Cornish treat extra special”. This achievement reflects the praise for their Cream Tea across many review websites by wowing all with presentation on the tiered Cornish slate cake stand and the unique square scones.
The Waymarker aims to cater to most dietary needs; with gluten-free bread and cakes with soya milk available too. The Waymarker team are blessed to make use of home-reared Cornish beef from the farmland surrounding restaurant where the Blonde d’Aquitaine pedigree herd can be seen grazing on fields bathed in fresh air and seasalt which transfers to their forage.
The location is interesting to walkers and nature lovers as our surroundings is left quite wild to maintain the variety of insect and birdlife that many customers enjoy watching from the restaurant or along our footpaths. The interior layout is friendly and informal and also customers are positioned to make the most of our viewpoint out of the fully-glazed front aspect. The Waymarker is the first restaurant with Approved Family Friendly accreditation with an outside play area and indoors they provide puzzles and games.
The isolated nature of The Waymarker’s location enhances daily restaurant level enjoyment of the light bite offerings or our main meal choices including a cold seafood platter or Mozzarella Baked Chicken. The Waymarker has expanded into regular monthly themed evening menus and most recently developing outside catering, weddings and private functions.
