Tornado warning for Cornwall!
Bodmin and Wenford Railway is putting the finishing touches to the plans for the upcoming visit by 60163 Tornado from 1st to 4th June. The first and only steam locomotive to be built in Britain this century, this iconic engine recently attracted national media interest when it reached record-breaking speeds of 100mph, and earlier in the year by hauling passenger trains for the Settle and Carlisle re-opening, where the public flocked in their hundreds to be a part of the spectacle.
The visit makes history for the engine and railway, marking Tornado’s first visit to Cornwall where it will be the biggest ever steam locomotive to run on the line.
The railway will also be showcasing some of its own heritage engines at the charming 1950s Cornish branch line station, creating a unique opportunity to see the newest and largest British locomotive alongside one of the smallest and one of the oldest.
Ticket options include standard travel, first class, bookable family or group compartments and a first class evening dining train.
