The Hosking family has farmed at Fentongollan since 1883. The farm is beautifully situated in the heart of Cornwall, on the banks of the Fal estuary, where they grow daffodil bulbs, vegetable plants, cereals and produce early fat lambs from their flock of Dorset sheep alongside other specialist horticultural enterprises.
160 acres of daffodils are grown for the sale of cut flowers and dry bulbs, on the farm, with over 250 varieties. These are sold in this country and exported to Holland. Fentongollan has one of the widest ranging lists of home grown varieties available for sale in the country. As professional growers they take great care of the health of their bulb stocks and cherish the reputation that Cornwall has for being one of the finest growing areas in the world for daffodils and narcissi.
James Hosking says “We get enormous pleasure from all of the almost unrivalled collection of flowering bulbs grown here on the farm. In total we have over 250 varieties including many that are new or unique.’
Alongside flower bulbs and flowers by post, they also supply the horticultural industry in the West Country and other online businesses with professionally cultivated vegetable plants and have pioneered specialised packaging, which enables them to send their vegetable plants by mail order to gardeners and smallholders. At Christmas time they team up with local suppliers and producers to offer the very best of Cornish produce to their customers, all by mail order.
Fentongollan are currently selling their spring flowering bulbs, if you order online you will receive a 10% discount.
