An art hotel … unique boutique retreat!
At Cornwall Living we researched what was new and trending at the moment in the historic town of Penzance …
We came across the Art Hotel in Chapel Street, a fun and hip boutique guesthouse, formerly a Grade II Listed 17th Century Georgian mansion recently renovated with the accent very much on contemporary design, makes for a magical ‘old meets new’ and a fun and funky informal vibe.
Each of the playful boutique hotel style bedrooms have been individually designed and decorated by Cornish or British artists.
You can choose one that appeals to your inner artist – from the wacky murals in Jo Peel to Pinky Vision pastel seascapes, butterfly themed Dolly Divine to cool & chic A.R Blank. Stay in your own private masterpiece with the comforts of top-notch bedding, en-suite shower rooms, free Wi-Fi, flatscreen digital TV’s and eco-chic toiletries.
Each room is totally unique – to suit different tastes. The artistic fun doesn’t stop with our rooms. All of our guests have access to our magnificent all-white room on the ground floor, which serves as our breakfast room, gallery and chill-out space, with an eclectic hotpotch of new and recycled furniture to lounge on.
Delicious breakfasts are packed with local Cornish produce. A continental cold buffet is beautifully laid out, whilst a rotating ‘hot dish of the day’ – with dishes such as scrambled egg with smoked salmon or omelette with honey roast ham can be cooked to order. All served on a selection of pretty mis-matched and brightly coloured crockery, Artist Residence breakfasts provide a great start to the day.
Artist Residence has art at its core. It’s not just the artist rooms that are visual feasts, but the whole of our boutique accommodation is filled head to toe with art. Our art gallery shows regular exhibitions and artisan pieces are sold and displayed in our quirky shop space.
Artist Residence is a great base for exploring Penzance’s bohemian charms and South West Cornwall being just 5 minutes from the sparkling seafront and Penzance Rail Station. Walk out of the chunky red front door and you are on Penzance’s most vibrant street, crammed with cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops and galleries.
This historic port town – is the perfect base for exploring World famous attractions such as St Michael’s Mount, the Minack Theatre and Lands End, as well as being located on the South West coastal path for breathtaking walks. Popular towns, villages and beaches such as St Ives, Porthcurno, Mousehole and Sennen are all located close by. With Penzance being the port of travel to the Isles of Scilly why not plan a day trip to discover the delights of the Scillies?
