2020 cookery courses
Rick Stein’s Cookery School celebrates its 20th anniversary next year with some exciting new courses on the menu.
Situated in the heart of Padstow, with views overlooking the harbour, Rick Stein’s Cookery School is an inspirational space to develop your cooking skills.“I don’t know if it’s the view out over the estuary across the water to Rock, the blue and white fish tiles, the warm wood floor or sail shaped ceiling,” says Rick, “but it’s a smart place to do some cooking and my dishes always taste better when I demonstrate them there.”
“It’s not just about seafood, we do lots of other interesting day courses: Far Eastern, Italian, Indian and Mexican, to name a few, plus some wonderful patisserie sessions”
The space is fully equipped with everything you’ll need to cook up a storm, “Chunky stoves, quality pans and knives and good quality chef’s jackets and aprons makes everybody feel competent and serious,” says Rick.
The courses provide you with the chance to learn from experienced chefs and gain expert knowledge on how to prepare food. “When I meet students at the cookery school it’s always a pleasure, because everyone is excited. It helps too that our chef lecturers are so good; they’ve worked in our kitchens so they’re relaying the same cookery tips that prevail in The Seafood Restaurant. What people always say is even if they’re nervous when they start, it’s dispelled in the first
few minutes.”
There is a focus on fish thanks to the incredible local fish available, however there are also a variety of other courses as well. Rick explains: “It’s not just about seafood, we do lots of other interesting day courses: Far Eastern, Italian, Indian and Mexican, to name a few, plus some wonderful patisserie sessions. As if that’s not enough, we have also introduced tasting evenings where you can enjoy a selection of dishes inspired by my travels, as well as a ‘Cook Your Own Dinner’ evening, which is great fun. I hope to see you there soon!”
To find out what courses are available, make sure to head to the Rick Stein website. Upcoming courses include: Fish and Shellfish on 17th October; Asian Street Food on 19th October; and Halloween Baking for children on 31st October, all providing you with the opportunity to hone your cooking skills with the experts in a beautiful and spacious environment that overlooks the water.
