A better way to design
Evergreen Interiors and Design brings a more considered approach to creating homes.
Some people arrive with a clear vision while others have little idea where to start. For Ross and Jodie, founders of Evergreen Interiors and Design, both are good starting points. Having each spent around a decade working for independent retailers, latterly in kitchens, they created Evergreen around a simple principle: listen first, then design.
The studio brings kitchens, bathrooms and interiors together through a consultative service, with Ross and Jodie involved throughout a project. Their role is to understand how clients live, what matters to them and where their budget needs to sit, before explaining the options available.
Pricing is straightforward with Evergreen operating on a fixed-margin model, avoiding the inflated prices and endless promotions that can make interiors retail confusing. If a specification exceeds the budget, alternatives can be discussed, with the advantages and limitations of different products and materials explained in full.
As you’d expect, sustainability is part of that conversation, with Evergreen prioritising Cornish suppliers where possible, extending its search across the South West and UK when necessary. The team also considers how products are manufactured, where materials come from and what happens to items removed during a project.
Usable kitchens can be passed on through Rehome, while working appliances and furniture may be donated to local charities or refurbished. Evergreen also works with local waste companies to recycle materials wherever possible. Supplier choices reflect the same ethos, including paint made to order by Coat Paints, using recycled tins and peel-and-stick samples to reduce waste.
For Ross and Jodie, good design should reflect the people who live with it. That might mean choosing a coloured ceramic toilet simply because it feels right, or selecting a particular material after understanding its characteristics.
As the studio develops, they want Evergreen to become a useful community hub for Cornwall’s design and building trades, while remaining approachable to local residents, newcomers and second-home owners. The driving force is simple: provide honest advice and thoughtful design from the beginning of a project to completion.
