Based in Redruth, family-owned business Action Petz, is run by Linda, husband Mark, their 20-year old son Alex and five-year old Border Collie Lacey. Moving to Cornwall in November 2017, they haven’t looked back since. Linda tells us: “The planning started in April 2016 and we did have a few obstacles along the way but we didn’t give up. Our love of dogs and Cornwall inspired us to purchase an Action Petz franchise, the company that employed us in south Wales and we had our very first booking in May this year!”

The Action Petz ethos and philosophy is to always put the welfare, comfort and happiness of the dogs first. “Being part of the Action Petz family means we have continuous access to some of the best dog behaviourists in the country.” There are no set rules in terms of sizes or breeds, meaning both puppies and senior dogs, as well as very small breeds or really big dogs can be accommodated. As long as the dogs are up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatment and pass the temperament assessment, Action Petz is happy to provide tailored, professional care for them.

The team is happy to look after less sociable dogs too, providing they pass the temperament assessment and a trial half day. On the rare occasion a dog isn’t suitable for the day care environment the team are always happy to help by referring you and your dog to a specialist in dog behaviour.

Day-to-day canine residents have loads of off-lead fun; the day is structured so that when the dogs arrive they play inside and outside in the secure outdoor play area, then towards lunchtime things slow down and the dogs are encouraged to get comfortable on one of the comfy sofas and dog beds. The team make sure each dog has lots of one-to-one attention and that everyone goes home tired and happy.
