As part of the national organisation Sykes Holiday Cottages, the agency is pleased to share industry insights from the group’s 2025 Staycation Index which showed that 63% of Brits are planning a UK break this year, with 34% making it their main holiday. Domestic tourism is forecast to contribute a staggering £24 billion to the UK economy this summer and Cornwall is right at the heart of it, ranking as the second most popular region in the UK for bookings so far in 2025.

Recent booking trends show that in Cornwall, family holidays dominate summer searches, accounting for 47% of all enquiries. Couples follow at 34%, with a noticeable spike in demand for early September breaks when schools return and adult groups seek a quieter escape. For holiday home owners, offering flexible layouts that appeal to multiple guest types is proving more important than ever.

Cornwall also boasts the highest income per holiday in the UK. Whilst short breaks are on the rise, now making up 31.6% of bookings, Cornwall still holds the longest average stay in the UK at 6.7 days, reflecting its appeal as a destination worth the journey.

However, Cornish Cottage Holidays isn’t just about great getaways, it’s about giving back.
