Falmouth definitely feels like being abroad; the coastal town sits right on the seafront next to some of the best sailing waters in the world and tranquil beaches await just minutes from the heart of town. With palm trees lining the roads and tropical gardens, one venue that marries beautiful gardens with sea views is the Princess Pavilion, which sits within Gyllyngdune Gardens. As you walk into the venue you’re greeted with a spacious restaurant and bar (The Garden Room), and beyond is the well-kept garden itself.

When waiting for an event, the gardens provide the perfect place to while away the time with your favourite tipple in hand. The lawn stretches out before you in the quad from which you can enjoy ocean views and right in the middle, you’ll find an intricately beautiful Edwardian bandstand. Then to the right, you can wander through the gardens that feature a play area, succulent potting glasshouse, shell grotto and even a rose walkway. Making the whole experience of waiting to listen to some great music even more enjoyable. 

As well as being a stunning venue for live music and comedy events, the Pavilion’s Garden Room is also a great place to visit in its own right. Often hosting free events in the restaurant itself such as jazz nights, whether you’re looking for somewhere to have a sit down meal or just some tea and cake, it’s a wonderful place to rest and refuel. The restaurant can also be rented for events such as weddings and birthdays, which make the most of its stunning location. We did a little digging and found this review from one happy customer: “Very good meals at a reasonable price, attentive staff and in the summer there’s a programme of events each evening, not to mention the beautiful gardens and the fact it’s just a stone’s throw from the beach.” So, when you’re in the area, make sure to visit this brilliant venue, surround yourself with beautiful gardens, enjoy a delicious meal and listen to some great music – it doesn’t get much better than that.
