Here the shelves are heavy with an impressive array of gins, rums and whiskies – any spirit imaginable – to suit all your cocktail making needs, and wines of every variety from all over the world. For the discerning drinker – or those on a serendipitous visit to this picturesque village – Constantine Stores will delight with its breathtaking display of bottles in every size, shape, colour and flavour.
Just six miles from Falmouth and a stone’s throw from the Helford river, Constantine Stores draws customers to its doors from all over the country. Guiding visitors through the shelves as they discover the vast collection are siblings, Sharon, Mark and Andrew. With a wealth of knowledge between them, the brothers have grown up in the family business and have been expanding the thriving collection first founded by their father over 60 years ago. With a love for whiskey and an eye for upcoming drinks, Andrew and Mark can passionately discuss tasting notes across the bar – tucked at the back of the shop.
As well as housing over 1,000 different whiskies, 500 gins, 400 rums and 90 cognacs and Armagnacs, the collection also showcases over 1,000 wines and covers many vintage and non-vintage champagnes and sparkling wines, first, second and third grown clarets, sherries, Madeiras and ports of all kind. And if you’re looking for something a little lighter to pack with you on your amble along the Cornish coast, there’s also a comprehensive selection of locally crafted beers and ciders to choose from, as well as a stunning selection of fresh local produce.
This remarkable shop is one of our county’s hidden gems and should be on the itinerary of all lovers of grape and grain. And don’t forget to pick up some fresh eggs on the way out!
