“Our oil boiler was a few years old and we were fed up with it. GreenGen proposed a combination of air source, solar PV and storage as a complete solution to the couple’s energy needs, minimizing carbon emissions and running costs.
“An air source heat pump was 100% the right solution for us. We’ll be saving over 4 tonnes of carbon a year, we no longer needed our ugly tank and our home is now kept at a constant, comfortable temperature,” Mr R tells us. “Furthermore, the Renewable Heat Incentive subsidises carbon friendly heating. Now we’re registered we’ll earn £1,400-a-year for seven years. Our bills should also be cheaper!”
In addition to the heat pump, the home’s solar system provides the property with free, renewable power throughout the day. Their battery storage allows them to harness more of their free power, even throughout the night.
“It’s nice to know we’ve done our bit and that we’re as carbon friendly as we can be,” Mrs R explains. “Some days, our electricity, heating and hot water is 100% renewable.”
