Jo Downs opens new gallery and workshop in Sunningdale, Berkshire.

Last year saw an exciting new addition to the high street of the leafy Berkshire village of Sunningdale – Jo Downs Handmade Glass. Although not the best year to launch a new gallery space, the initial response was amazing. Now, as we get back to some sense of normality, the Sunningdale Gallery team is ready to welcome back fans of Jo’s work and offer a real interactive experience.

Anyone who loves Cornwall and its artistic heritage will be familiar with Jo Downs Handmade Glass galleries. The Sunningdale Gallery is brimming with beautiful giftware and interior art pieces, and is also the perfect place to drop in and discuss your commission ideas. Launching soon is a dedicated workshop space which will offer hands-on courses in fused glass design. You will be able to learn the basics through to more advanced techniques and create your own beautiful pieces of fused glass art. For more details, be sure to visit the website.

Jo is inspired by the landscape and atmosphere that surrounds her and it’s not by chance that she lives and works in one of the UK’s most beautiful rural counties. Her home on the north coast of Cornwall has always provided inspiration for her stunning fused glass collections, and inevitably seasonal colour and the ever-changing landscape affect the tone and feel of the work she creates throughout the year.

The Sunningdale Gallery reflects this unique style with an array of stunning interior pieces and wall art. And if you are after something truly individual, the team at Sunningdale are there to help. “All my clients have a starting point, a notion of what they want,” says Jo. “It’s a dream, isn’t it, to work hard all your life for a beautiful home, and to fill it with beautiful things? Bespoke works are the ultimate expression of that I think. I am surrounded by such a stunning landscape, and people want to bring that beauty into their homes, and to celebrate it! If I can make that happen with my artwork, that’s a really rewarding thing.”
