Cornwall LivingIssue #74

Best seat in the house

We catch up with Daniel Meek, Director at CSA Architects to pause for a moment and enjoy the view.

Living in Cornwall, we’re lucky to have the privilege of seeing spectacular views daily. Whether it’s on a morning stroll along the coast or from the comfort of our own homes, glimpses of the sea and rural landscapes are always on the horizon. We hear why it’s important to maximise your view and how it can be achieved from director at CSA Architects, Daniel Meek. Dan tells us: “Living and working as an architect in Cornwall, I’m able to see some of the most spectacular views the county has to offer. Whether this is a coastal seascape, a rural panorama or a glimpsed view along a narrow harbour street, it’s important to stop and enjoy the moment.” This is why making the most of the beautiful scenery our county has to offer is a top priority for the team at CSA.

Dan continues: “Maximising the view is a key factor in many projects and we always do our utmost to ensure the best results.” Sometimes it takes a bit of creativity to realise the potential views that a property can utilise, which sees the team going so far as to climb on top of garages, step ladders in a field or fighting through an overgrown garden to take photographs that will highlight all the different perspectives a property could have.

As well as taking still images, CSA also utilises 3D software to show clients the views they could enjoy when the project is complete. Dan explains: “3D software allows us to show our clients the design in more detail, even being able to see the view they could have from their living room sofa.”

This approach helps form the early concept design, all the way through to making decisions on the best materials and products to use in a particular location. Dan continues: “it’s not just about panoramic views; any view can be utilised, whether it’s a garden view or simply the connection between living spaces.” CSA continue to go the extra mile for its clients, making the most of properties in every way, and crafting incredible spaces that merge with Cornwall’s beautiful landscape.
