Bringing big brands to Cornwall

Bishop Phillpott hand-selects the trendiest designer pieces for its store in Truro.

Run by mother and daughter team Sharon and Katie, Bishop Phillpott occupies a beautiful building on New Bridge Street in Truro and is a haven for designer fashion, bringing that little piece of luxury to everyday life in Cornwall.

“There are loads of fantastic things about running your own boutique, but by far one of the best has to be choosing all the beautiful stock”

After years of working in the fashion industry, Sharon has utilised her love of fashion and eye for style in a dream career, hand selecting wearable designer looks to bring to Cornwall. She tells us: “There are loads of fantastic things about running your own boutique, but by far one of the best has to be choosing all the beautiful stock.”

Getting the 5am train to the big smoke may not be the most glamorous of beginnings but Sharon assures us that the early starts are worth it. She explains: “At each designer showroom, we have the tricky task of narrowing down a selection of items to bring to you. We don’t just choose pieces we love, we also focus on pieces that are made to last.” One of our in-house favourites is the Maison Labiche range – we absolutely love the quintessentially Parisian design. The striped tops are made with a comforting, soft fabric and detailed with French writing, in a design that immediately has me reaching for my beret and croissant!

Having to source their collections a year in advance means the Bishop Phillpott team have the inside scoop on what styles will be big next season. Sharon tells us: “This autumn it’s all about red, it’s the perfect colour to lift those dull winter days, and there really is a shade to suit everyone. You’ll also see the return of some fabulous prints from Paul Smith, which are sure to be a hit!” Katie’s favourite choice for this season is a classic white shirt. She explains: “We’re also super excited to bring you the most amazing Italian brand, Balossa, specialising in white shirts – a design classic and something that every woman should have in her wardrobe.” With these labels and others including Weekend by Maxmara, 360 Cashmere, JBrand, Donna Ida and American Vintage to name but a few, Bishop Phillott promises to have it all for the coming season.
