Duchy Living was born out of a passion for rich colour, pattern and textiles from the east. Specifically, the passion of company founder, Jenny Thorne. “Working with some of the most experienced and knowledgeable contacts on the ground in India and Iran means that I bring unique and one of a kind Persian and Indian rugs, runners and Kilims to grace your space, whether that’s vintage or Bohemian styles, traditional classic or modern contemporary pieces,” Jenny explains. “I aim to deliver the ‘right look’ to any home, holiday property or commercial space, all sustainable and ethically produced.” And it’s fair to say that Duchy Living’s fabulous range of rugs look as incredible in ultra-modern new builds by the coast as they do in period country homes.
Known as one of Cornwall’s specialist rug suppliers, Jenny also has in stock luxury cushions, throws and eiderdowns in velvet, cotton and linen, which complement and co-ordinate beautifully with her rugs in wonderful colours as well as muted coastal shades. “I also have a wide selection of decorative tiles in many shapes, colours and patterns that are perfectly suited for walls and floors in any room of the home,” she elaborates.
Not only are Jenny’s fingers firmly on the pulse when it comes to interior design, she is also quick to react to customers and their shopping habits. It is for this reason that Jenny has made the decision – at least for the time being – to close her store in the centre of Truro and focus on a more personal shopping experience, letting her clients choose from a distinctive and carefully curated selection of rugs and home accessories, in the comfort of their own homes. “A little like an interior designer visits and works with clients on site,” Jenny explains, “I can bring rugs, cushions and throws out to you to try in situ before making a decision.” And whether it’s a single rug you’re looking for, or a whole house full of unique and special floor art, after gaining a brief from you, Jenny will hunt down the ideal rugs, tiles and accessories that she believes will fit the bill, before arranging an appointment to try them out in your living space.
