Cabin comfort

Deep in a wooded valley, beside an ancient millpond, the cabins at Deerpark offer a complete escape from the busy world.

The tempo of modern life is at an all-time high; with technology at our fingertips it’s become increasingly difficult to switch off from both work and social demands. With this in mind, we at Cornwall Living decided to do some research into the perfect winter escapes, and one gem that we simply have to share with you is Forest Holidays Deerpark.

“deep in the forest with only the sound of birds to stir you from your slumber in the morning”

Located between Saltash and St Austell – just a short drive from the delights of Cornwall’s south coast and the idyllic fishing villages of Fowey and Looe – Forest Holidays Deerpark offers 45 luxury cabins set on the winding side of a tranquil valley. The cabins surround a quiet millpond, deep in the forest with only the sound of birds to stir you from your slumber in the morning.

There is a choice of different cabins, from treetop getaways to water retreats. The smallest is designed for couples, sleeping just two in a secluded hideaway on the water’s edge, and the biggest is the golden oak treehouse a unique and quirky space with a fairy-tale bedroom across a wooden bridge. This is the setting for a memorable forest experience.

Inside, we’re blown away by the bedrooms, all of which have been cleverly designed to make the most of the space available. The cabins have walk in showers or baths to indulge in, plus – and here’s the cherry on the cake – hot tubs outside for evenings under the stars. The kitchens are well equipped with everything you need to cook up a storm, and during our stay, we found that the living room is stocked with an entertainment package, including a fantastic selection of movies and TV box sets – meaning we were fully prepared for rainy afternoons in front of the fire and cosy evenings snuggled up on the sofa.

Waking up to the sound of the breeze rustling the trees outside was a wonderful feeling, and when it came to how to spend our days, we found the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project both nearby. The best part is that Forest Holidays can provide 10% discount codes for both! There are also a variety of cycling and walking trails and on-site activities such as Ranger adventures – perfect for anyone interested in ecology or bird spotting.

In short, if you’re after an idyllic getaway this winter, we can wholeheartedly recommend booking your dream cabin now and discovering for yourself the delights of Deerpark.

DID YOU KNOW?
There’s even the option to order food from the on-site restaurant and have it delivered to your cabin, rather than venturing out – perfect if you’ve had a busy day exploring or a long drive.
