Canine Capers

The Nare is a five-star country house hotel by the sea, situated on the Roseland Peninsula which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful, unspoilt National Trust land and the South West Coast Path runs alongside the hotel gardens, offering instant access to some of Cornwall’s most beautiful coastal walks.

Below the hotel you’ll find Carne Beach; well off the beaten track and renowned for being quiet and unspoilt. It stretches from the iconic Nare Head to the east and as far as the eye can see towards the Lizard in the west. At low tide it joins the small but charming Pendower beach and forms over a mile of golden sand and a delightful selection of rock pools. It is often described as having all the exclusivity of a private island and dogs are welcome on the beach throughout the year. During the summer season they should be kept on the lead on the beach during the daytime, though in the morning and evening and during the winter months they can run for miles across the sand.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome at The Nare, in the gardens and in the bedrooms. There is a daily charge for all dogs checking into the hotel which includes dinner from a special dogs’ table d’hôte menu. As with all guests at The Nare, those with special dietary requirements and desires are well looked after whether on two legs of four. For the discerning canine, a dogs’ à la carte menu has a wider choice. Everything has been thought of here; biodegradable dog bags are available from reception and dog bins are provided. The hotel has wellies for guests to use whilst at the hotel and there is a drying room for any wet clobber.
