Carving a Life by the Sea

A Cornishman born and bred, Mark Lord has come home with fresh purpose, exchanging years inland for a studio near Falmouth where the sea once again shapes his working day. His lino prints draw from the harbours, coves and working waterfronts of South Cornwall, capturing the character of places whose stories are written in stone quays, weathered boats and the people who earn their living from the tide.

Each carved image carries the confidence of careful observation, informed by a long career behind the camera and an instinct for
strong composition.

Working with traditional hand tools, Mark carves every design before inking and printing by hand, giving each piece its own subtle individuality.

Alongside original prints, his growing collection of homeware and stationery allows his distinctive style to find a place in everyday life, bringing Cornwall’s maritime heritage into homes well beyond the confines of
the county.

The appeal is easy to understand: these are works made with patience, skill and a genuine affection for the coast that first inspired them.
