Celebrate summer in style
Cornwall’s Polurrian on the Lizard hotel brings new meaning to being ‘beach ready.’
This summer Polurrian on the Lizard is introducing some fabulous new activities which are guaranteed to get guests – both big and small – enjoying all that the local area has to offer, available to book on the Polurrian website.
“the ultimate coastal experience”
As a family, have fun learning basic beach survival skills with Lizard Adventure, allowing you to create memories and channel your inner Bear Grylls. During a half day session you will learn skills like making fires without matches, wood whittling and beach craft, with activities tailored to different age groups.
Through the wild swimming activity you can experience this stunning stretch of Cornwall’s coastline from the water and join qualified lifeguard Lucy Green on a three mile swim that includes lunch on an island, where participants can help build and light a fire to cook their own lunch, then relax in the beautiful surroundings before swimming back to shore.
Turn a trip to the beach into an unforgettable marine biology adventure with Dr Ben Holt, leading marine biologist at the Rock Pool Project. Guests will be taken on a journey to discover the marine wildlife found in the magical world of rockpools, from swimming crabs to bioluminescent anemones. The species will be recorded using waterproof handheld devices, and the findings added to the marine conservation records at the National Biodiversity Network.
The favourite family activity of kayaking is also available from either Mullion Cove or Cadgwith Cove on the Lizard peninsula, offering the chance to learn about the local wildlife and natural history as well as exploring the rugged coastline.
For those of you seeking an adrenaline fix, coasteering is the ultimate coastal experience, one which expands your comfort zone. There’s no better way to spend time with your friends or family – scramble, swim and get washed around, jump and play where sea meets cliff and above all, have fun.
After all that fresh air and excitement why not enjoy a sundowner back at the hotel on its terrace overlooking Mount’s Bay? Then head to the hotel’s restaurant for a delicious wood fired feast, featuring hand-stretched pizzas and rustic dishes that incorporate the bold flavours of the Mediterranean.
