Christmas ingredients

Everything you need to plan your Cornish Christmas.

Welcome to our list of Christmas ingredients! We’ll be taking a good look in our next issue at all things Christmassy in Cornwall, but for now, here are just a few ideas to help you prepare for the festivities ahead. Whether you’re in search of the perfect Christmas tree, are looking for something a little different to quench your thirst, or are making a mental plan of your Christmas day menu, now’s the time to start preparing for the festive season. We all know how stressful it can be when we leave it all to the last minute, so why not make this the year you really get ahead of the Christmas game?

Ready to roast

Treway Farm Turkey

Treat your family to an award-winning Treway Farm Turkey as the centrepiece of your Christmas feast, for a lunch you won’t forget! These bronze free range turkeys are hand reared using age old farming methods and are fed a home grown natural diet which gives them a superior depth of flavour. They are then dry plucked, game hung and packed in special presentation boxes with fresh herbs and a pop-up timer ready for you to collect. Treway Farm Turkeys are the only producers in Cornwall to be accredited with the renowned ‘Golden Turkey’ standard.

Fuel the flames

Providing kiln-dried logs, as well as briquettes, wood pellets, kindling and eco-firelighters from sustainable sources, Trusty Logs also has a range of accessories available for you to keep your fire, boiler or stove in peak condition. What’s more, the team can supply and/or construct a log store on your property to keep your wood dry. They now offer a chimney sweeping service too, which comes with a free net of kiln-dried ash!

A tipple or two

Your perfect Christmas tree

Cedar Croft Nurseries

With over 25,000 trees, at Cedar Croft Nurseries near St Tudy, you can choose your perfect Christmas tree. Species range from traditional Norway spruces and low-drop Nordmann fir, to Serbian, Orientalis and Grandis firs that give a wide variety of smells, shades and needle shapes.

All trees are cut to demand which means they are perfectly fresh, and owner Mark has developed a Christmas shop that stocks a great range of Christmas decorations. The nursery is wheelchair accessible and dogs are welcome too!

Go beef this Christmas

Etherington’s Farm Shop

With Christmas just around the corner, many of us are already planning our festive menus. This year, for a truly extraordinary centrepiece, opt for a whole roast rib of beef from Etherington’s Farm Shop near Scorrier, taken from only the very best West Country cattle, deliciously marbled and perfect served with a rich gravy.
