Christmas with a difference

Experience a luxury festive stay like no other at the Bodmin Jail Hotel.

Bodmin Jail Hotel is truly unique. Nestled in the historic Cornish town of Bodmin and not far from the wonderful wilds of Bodmin Moor, this boutique hotel was built by Napoleonic prisoners in 1779 and used as a prison until 1927, when it was decommissioned. After falling into disrepair, its current owner could see the wonderful potential of the space, which has been sensitively restored with many of the original features retained. The hotel itself is laid out over four floors of steel exoskeleton with a metal landing underneath a glazed roof which lets natural light flood in. Stylish bedrooms, which are three prison cells knocked together, have an industrial chic look combined with luxury linens and toiletries.

This yuletide season, Bodmin Jail Hotel invites guests to come and celebrate Christmas on a grand scale with all the trimmings. In order to make the big day truly special, choose from a selection of stunning menus and an array of sumptuous festive treats. Whether it’s Christmas lunch, afternoon tea or a New Year’s Eve extravaganza, the spectacular surroundings will be sure to give you a Christmas experience you’ll never forget.

The traditional festive package offers you the opportunity to celebrate with your nearest and dearest and experience the best of hospitality over a two or three-night stay, arriving on either the 23rd December or Christmas Eve. Executive Head Chef Dane Watkins has created the perfect array of festive menus during December, culminating in a five-course gala dinner on Christmas Eve, followed by a traditional Christmas Day lunch. Or, why not see in the New Year at Bodmin Jail Hotel? On New Year’s Eve, join the celebratory five-course “Gentleman Thief And Femme Fatale” themed dinner along with live music and plenty
of bubbles!

For both guests and locals, there is a further treat in store. During December, Father Christmas will be making a special visit to the Chapel restaurant. Enjoy a festive-themed afternoon tea of mouth-watering cakes, freshly made scones and delicate finger sandwiches with all the children getting the chance to meet Father Christmas for a picture and a special present, and if you’re staying, don’t forget to qoute ‘Cornwall Living‘ at the champagne bar for a free cocktail on arrival!
