Climb abroad

See the wonders of the world, explore its most beautiful waterways, and experience culture across the globe. It’s all possible with a cruise through Newell’s TRAVEL!

Established in 1962 with a single branch in Falmouth, award-winning travel agency Newell’s TRAVEL has become Devon and Cornwall’s largest independent travel group, now boasting nine retail branches across Cornwall alone, plus two in Devon! It also has a Business Travel Department and a Groups Travel Department based in Bristol. Under the watchful eyes of its directors – Cornishman Roger Hawke and his wife Helen – the company retains its welcoming family atmosphere.

“…well-established luxury cruise liners have just got better, placing six-star luxury and amazing cuisine at the top of their priority list.”

Newell’s growth and success is down to hard work, excellent professional staff and innovative thinking, so it’s no wonder the nation’s leading tour operators continuously vote for the company in national awards!

On the subject of innovative thinking, Newell’s second cruise show last October saw the launch of the Ocean and River Cruise Club (OARCC), led by newly appointed Cruising Manager, Nick Pritchard, who brings 44 years’ experience in the industry to the table, as well as personal knowledge of many cruise lines and their ships. He’s responsible for developing OARCC, with assistance from recently appointed Cruise Ambassadors in each of Newell’s 11 retail branches. Cruising is the fastest growing market in the travel industry and Newell’s TRAVEL, with the introduction of OARCC, is way ahead of the game.

There are many elements that need pulling together in order to create a fabulous cruise holiday. A cruise encompasses several individually crafted holidays, pre and post-hotels, city tours and transfers, as well as excursions, fly cruises from local airports and no-fly cruises from UK ports. That’s a lot to organise!

Many cruise ships are, quite literally, floating holiday resorts, packed with innovative and thrilling activities for the whole family to enjoy. And the well-established luxury cruise liners have just got better, placing six-star luxury (that’s right!) and amazing cuisine at the top of their priority list. Others design the experience around travellers who want to understand the culture, history and wonders of each and every stop. There are also niche cruises which concentrate on unusual excursions, as well as smaller cruise ships, able to reach places that larger vessels simply can’t.

Also growing in popularity are river cruises, and these specially designed river ships do not want for luxury! They allow you to sail down some of the world’s most beautiful rivers in your own floating hotel, often mooring right in the heart of the towns as you pass through, meaning accessibility for sightseeing has never been easier. All river cruises have excursions too, so you can get a real insight into the local culture of the areas you visit.

With cruise holidays gaining popularity, Newell’s TRAVEL is well placed to match any prices on the high street, as well as regularly beating internet prices on holiday destinations all over the world. Newell’s TRAVEL holds an annual travel show in Truro and this year, the show will be celebrating its 30th anniversary. They will welcome more than 40 of the UK’s top tour operators on the Piazza, Lemon Quay, Truro on Sunday 18th March, where they’ll be ready and able to chat face to face with the general public. Arguably the most anticipated features of the show are its cinema sessions and this year, nine diverse companies will be displaying their fascinating presentations, inspiring you to book the trip of a lifetime.

The best part is that the show’s main sponsor, Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has kindly donated a river cruise for two worth more than £1000, and all you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is attend – just be sure to register when you arrive!
