Coastal Escapes

Beautiful stays in Bude, Port Isaac and Fowey.

Wyvern House, Bude

Built in 1900, Wyvern House is a beautiful and imposing gentleman’s residence in this much-sought-after holiday destination on the north Cornish coast. Lovingly refurbished from top to bottom with nautical-inspired interiors, the property maintains the original charm and character that make this home unique. Living areas are capacious; ideal for groups of friends or extended families to come together. Bedrooms are havens of calm, some with views across to the sea and all except one has an en-suite.

The proximity to Crooklets Beach, which you’ll find just 500 yards from the property, makes this the seaside holiday home that dreams are made of. Inspiration has been taken from the ocean surroundings and used to create interiors with more than a nod to the nautical. High ceilings and the retention of character features make this a residence of distinction just waiting to be discovered. There is plenty of outdoor dining space and to the side of the house is a safe place to store surf boards and bikes. An outdoor hose also means that wetsuits can be rinsed off, hung up and readied for the next day, and with your own hot tub, you can soak away all your cares in the privacy of the garden.

Lundy Cottage, Port Isaac

Lundy Cottage is a beautiful three-bedroom stone cottage in Port Isaac’s ancient fishing village. You will find Lundy Cottage tucked away in the heart of the village, making for the perfect retreat for families or couple wishing to explore Port Isaac and the surrounding areas. Why not enjoy a glass of wine in front of the open fireplace, or gather around the kitchen’s central island while cooking and entertaining your friends or family? Sleeping up to five guests, and with so many amenities on offer to provide comfort and convenience, this really is the perfect cosy place to stay.

The clear waters in the harbour with bobbing fishing boats makes a picturesque place to spend your evenings or days watching the world go by. Through a maze of narrow streets, you may also find ‘Squeezy Belly Alley’, or take a fishing or scenic trip around the coast during the summer months. Sandy beaches, with large waves ideal for surfing or some gentler boogie boarding, are only a short drive away with some allowing dogs all year round.

Lamellyon Roundhouse, Fowey

Situated in the middle of beautiful unspoilt rolling fields with superb coastal walks nearby giving access to secluded coves and beaches, the Roundhouse was formerly a working annexe to the main barn (next door) and now offers comfortable and cosy accommodation for two. Approached down a 300-metre unmade drive, the cottage is entered from the sheltered sunny patio through French windows which open directly into the light and airy living room. The ground floor is open plan and tiled throughout with a spacious sitting area with television, and benefiting from a feature fireplace with log effect electric fire and two large south facing windows providing wonderful
views over the open, lawned gardens and countryside beyond.

There is a sofa bed for alternative sleeping arrangements, a dining area, fitted kitchen, bathroom with hand basin and shower over the bath and separate W.C. An attractive wooden staircase leads up to the mezzanine bedroom, with a king size double bed and is crowned, as is the living room, by the original timber beams and braces. The surrounding grassy garden is fenced off from the farmland but guests with pets are requested to supervise them at all times.
