Coastal escapes

Our choice of Cornish coastal getaways.

This collection of six delightful cottages have been converted from a range of barn-houses and haylofts. The cottages range from one to three bedrooms and can be booked separately, or together if you are planning a holiday with your extended family. Each cottage is entirely self-contained with well-equipped kitchens, comfortable open-plan living areas for relaxing and excellent shower/bathrooms. Each cottage also benefits from outdoor seating so you can soak up the Cornish sunshine and enjoy the panoramic views out over the neighbouring fields and valley. Located next to the South West Coast Path, this is the perfect base camp from which to explore this stretch of coastline.

In-house watersports centre, E-Foil Cornwall, offers paddle board hire and lessons for beginners, advanced and children from the age of eight. Their newest and most exiting adventure is electric hydrofoiling, with private, two-hour, one-to-one or group lessons available. Once you’ve got the hang of it you can even book an E-Foil experience and head off to explore along the coast. If you don’t fancy getting wet you can make use of the new fleet of electric hire bikes. With four mountain bikes and two step-through bikes, everyone can happily explore Cornwall without having to get back into the car.

Maris Cottage, St Agnes

Sleeping five in three stylish, comfortable bedrooms, Maris Cottage is a cosy home from home tucked away in a quiet spot in the popular village of St Agnes. On the ground floor, guests will find the spacious open-plan living area with white-painted, rustic wooden flooring, and a light and airy modern ambiance, flooded with natural light from the large bay windows. Cosy up in front of the wood-burning stove after a long day of exploring, and relax on the comfortable sofas for the evening, watching your favourite film.

Step outside through the patio door from the dining area and enter into the enclosed patio garden where you will find an outdoor dining and kitchen area, a pizza oven and barbeque – the perfect space for soaking in the last of the evening’s sun, al fresco dining or that morning coffee watching the sunrise. There is also an outdoor tap to wash off your sandy wetsuits when you get back from the beach, with hooks for them to hang up and dry! Prices are from £729 for seven nights, so what better place from which to explore this area of north Cornwall, with its charming village and pretty cove?

Bottlenose Cottage, Port Isaac

Located in the heart of Port Isaac, Bottlenose Cottage is the perfect base for exploring the village and surrounding countryside. Finished to an exceptionally high standard with luxurious fittings and furnishings, the cottage is split over three floors with space for up to five, while the two sitting rooms, both with log burners, offer plenty of space to spread out and relax. The master bedroom enjoys a large en-suite shower room, with a second bedroom that enjoys a beautiful bathroom accessed off the main hallway. The kitchen is well kitted out, ready for you to cook up a storm with the local fish merchants primed and ready to offer local supplies. Exit out the front door and in less than a minute’s walk you’ll find yourself on the harbour – you really couldn’t be any closer to the pubs and restaurants. An added bonus is the allowance for one dog, with numerous coastal walks and places to discover with your four-legged friend nearby. Lastly, there is space for one car at the rear of the property which is rare in Port Isaac, so make sure to book now for autumn and into 2023.
