Our choice of Cornish coastal getaways.

The Cornish Holiday Company

Sea Thrift, Port Isaac

Sleeping four across two bedrooms, you’ll discover this delightful apartment at the heart of Port Isaac. The kitchen has all the modern conveniences you could want while the cosy living room, with its Scandi-style furnishings, offers a peaceful corner for curling up with a good book. Outside, a large enclosed lawned area is perfect for sunbathing or garden games and there are two delightful seating areas; one at the far end of the lawn under the shade of mature trees, the other a sunny patio spot perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or
a sundowner.

Sea Thrift is just a short walk from the harbour and its shops, eateries and pubs; you’ll also find Nathan Outlaw’s award-winning New Road and Fish Kitchen restaurants, both nearby for a real foodie treat. Many an afternoon can be whiled away here, watching the boats land their catch or just taking in the coastal scenery that has been the backdrop to the acclaimed television series Doc Martin for many years. The South West Coast Path affords rambles in both directions and for the more adventurous, world-class surfing beaches are only a short drive away.

Creekside Cottages

Beach Cottage, Restronguet

Beach Cottage’s position is a truly exceptional one, as it really does have its toes-in-the-water. You’ll find this tranquil detached cottage for five at the entrance to Restronguet Creek, with beautiful views out across the water to the wider Roseland Peninsula from every room. Set above a little sandy cove that is mere steps from the garden gate, this couldn’t be better positioned for those who love to mess about on the water. The cottage is furnished with a nod to the nautical and in keeping with its traditional heritage with a Belfast sink and an electric AGA in the modern kitchen. The sitting room has a wood-burning stove for chill evenings and all the entertainment tech you could wish for.

The lawn at the front of the cottage invites lazy days and evening barbecues overlooking the water and the popular 13th century Pandora Inn, which is just a short walk along the creekside footpath, perfect for walking your pooch as this property is also dog friendly. Such is the waterside position of this cottage the tidal shingle beach, which provides vehicle access, is sometimes covered, making this the ultimate away-from-it-all retreat.
