Coastal escapes April 2018

Our choice of Cornish getaways

MARCH 2018

Beautiful stays in Porthleven, Mawgan Porth, and Rock.

Customs House Loft, Porthleven

Modern, coastal and comfortable to the final touch, this delightful first floor apartment – found in a Grade II listed building on Porthleven’s harbourside that dates back to the 1840s – is the perfect base from which to enjoy one of Cornwall’s premier foodie destinations.

The small doorway up to the apartment does not betray what lies beyond. The apartment, which sleeps four, is bright, spacious and carefully decorated to suit its coastal surroundings, while the two bedrooms both enjoy en-suites, with White Company towels and bedding and an Atlantic blanket carefully folded at the end of each bed.

The living and dining area offers a surprising amount of space for relaxing by the fire, with a triptych of windows framing the gorgeous view over the harbour. Indeed, Customs House Loft is all about the detail, with two chairs perfectly placed in front of the middle window, which you can open on a balmy summer’s evening to enjoy the view. Binoculars are even provided for dolphin spotting and storm watching, depending on the season, and your four-legged friend will find their very own basket of blankets, so they too can make themselves at home. A freshly baked cream team awaits your arrival, courtesy of your charming host Louise and best of all, the apartment is right on the doorstep of one of Cornwall’s top foodie hotspots!

Lowenna 5, Rock

This beautifully furnished, three-storey holiday home offers spacious accommodation for two families, sleeping ten across five bedrooms on the north Cornish coast. The bedding arrangement is incredibly versatile, with two en-suite rooms, twin rooms that can be joined together, and a single bed with a pull out mattress underneath.

Open plan and elegant, Lowenna has plenty of living space, perfect for those evenings spent playing charades and sharing a few bottles of something chilled. And, if fine dining is your thing, Rock has some absolutely fantastic restaurants for you to choose from, especially if fresh, locally caught seafood is on your ‘must try’ list.

For those hoping to hit the water, Rock is a watersports mecca, offering second-to-none sailing waters, waterskiing and wakeboarding on the Camel estuary. There are also some beautiful walks here too, so pack a pair of boots and prepare to lace them up!

Lowenna 5 is one of five properties that share communal gardens in the same locations, and larger groups can book them side-by-side for a truly unforgettable holiday. Head to the John Bray Cornish Holidays website to find out more!
