Coastal escapes January 2019
Beautiful stays in Porthleven, Fowey and Port Gaverne.
Rock House, Porthleven
Located just minutes from Porthleven beach and harbour, Rock House provides a brilliant base from which you can explore the delights of the village and the surrounding area. With Loe Bar, Porthleven beach and the coastal path towards Rinsey all close by, it’s a great little escape to return to after a wintry walk with
the family, including the dog!
With its modern fusion of character and style, you’ll immediately feel at ease as you step into the open plan living area, which boasts a beautiful space for relaxed dinners. Three of the four beautiful bedrooms have the benefit of their own en-suite shower room, whilst also having the option to use the main bathroom with its gorgeous freestanding bath. The tranquil space invites you to sink into a hot bubbly bath after your day’s adventures, when you can enjoy some much needed ‘me time’. Then head to the contemporary living room for a glass of wine in front of the log burner once the kids are tucked up in bed.
A delightful mix of eateries and boutiques are dotted around the harbour, making it an ideal destination for foodies and shoppers alike. Being only two minutes from the local beach makes Rock House the perfect choice for a holiday by the sea. Watch the big winter swells and head to the local pubs to enjoy some proper Cornish fayre; it certainly sounds like our idea of heaven!

Courtyard Cottage, Port Gaverne
Nestled in a small cove in north Cornwall, Port Gaverne is home to the relaxed, family, and dog-friendly Courtyard Cottage. Courtyard Cottage sleeps four guests in comfort, and the open plan living, kitchen and dining area has stripped pine floors and a cosy wood burner.
From Courtyard Cottage, you can join the coastal footpath almost as soon as you walk out of the front door. The small cove also offers up a sandy beach, with plenty of caves and rockpools to explore when the tide is out, plus it’s dog friendly all year round! Port Gaverne is also one of the most popular wild swimming spots in the area!
For eating out, the multi award-winning Port Gaverne Restaurant & Hotel is just next door, dating back to the 17th century and specialising in local produce — particularly seafood and delicious local ales. An evening stroll into Port Isaac with its growing foodie credentials is a must too, given that it’s home to famous celebrity chef Nathan Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen.
Courtyard Cottage is a perfect family friendly retreat, but is intimate enough for a romantic stay for two as well. There’s always something to do here, but doing nothing is also an attractive option.
