Cornwall LivingIssue #109
Coastal escapes June 2021
Located on the rugged north coast cliffs and a short stroll from Perranporth town centre awaits a modern and luxurious holiday property that just exudes class.
Newly built in 2020 and presented to an exceptionally high standard, this four-bedroom property can sleep eight plus one dog, boasts three bathrooms and is completed with quality furnishings, coastal colours and ample space. You will feel very much at home holidaying in Tolcarne. With an impressive open-plan kitchen and living area, this property is perfect for socialising. The garden also provides a super backdrop for an al fresco dining experience on a beautifully paved sun terrace, which maximises the sunshine throughout the day.
A beautiful glass-fronted balcony is accessible from the living room and main bedroom, where you can enjoy an early morning coffee in the sun whilst planning your day, or gaze down at your sandy toes with a glass of wine after a sunny day on the beach.
The three-mile stretch of golden sandy beach, only a short stroll away, is a doggy’s dream, a surfer’s sanctuary and the crystal-clear waters are a bather’s bounty. Walkers will find the area exquisite, brimming with wildlife and surrounded by countryside that inspired Winston Graham’s Poldark novels. This bustling village has plenty to offer from ice-cream parlours, beach shops, family pubs, restaurants and cafés all serving delicious Cornish produce.
Parc Brawse House, Lizard
Sleeping up to ten across five stylish bedrooms, Parc Brawse House is brilliantly situated between Lizard village and Lizard Point, so you can explore footpaths, miles of coastal path, and iconic local beaches, all just moments away. The house dates back to the 1700s when the original part was a local fisherman’s cottage. About 100 years later the rest of the house was built, giving it a stunning façade and breathtaking sea views on three sides.
The accommodation is arranged across two levels, with the old and ‘new’ parts of the house joined seamlessly by the kitchen and dining room. Both parts are amply serviced with bathrooms (some en-suite), making this an ideal property for two families to share. You have bags of parking and can also bring one friendly dog.
Be sure to explore the nearby cove of Kynance, where you can swim, fish, or sit back and enjoy a cream tea. Alternatively, get the adrenaline flowing by going surfing at Kennack Sands or with the surf school at Poldhu, or book (in advance) with the brilliant Lizard Adventure, before returning home and cooking up a storm of fresh lobster and relaxing in the garden.
However you spend your time, you could easily spend a week here and venture no more than a few miles away, in one of the UK’s most remote, yet amazingly rich and diverse destinations.
Westerly House, Bude
Westerly House is an abode of dreams and where memories are made. Extended families or forever friends can come together here to experience an old-fashioned seaside holiday in this picture-postcard Cornish town. Surfers, sea and sand lovers are just a short walk from the beach while shoppers can browse independent boutiques and explore eclectic eateries. Walkers can don their boots and be on the South West Coastal Path in minutes with golfers getting the VIP treatment with a fairway on the doorstep. Or just sit, rest, read a book if the desire so takes you, and appreciate Westerly’s own haven of peace
The house’s majestic façade gives way to expansive interiors with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. Colours nod to the nautical with modern accents to inspire. From young to old there is a place and space for all – budding chefs in the kitchen cooking up a feast; gamers in the snug with its plethora of connectivity; bookworms in the lounge warming toes in front of the wood burning stove. Giant patio doors open out to a private outdoor garden, where children can play in safety and adults can enjoy a sundowner as you stoke up the built-in barbecue. There is a choice of seven bedrooms, sleeping 16 guests, all offering a restful night’s sleep, while you dream of your day.
