Coastal escapes September 2018

Beautiful stays in Coverack, Port Isaac and Fowey River.

Gunvor Cottage, Coverack

Escape to Gunvor Cottage and wander around the streets of one of Cornwall’s most charming fishing villages. Renowned for its picture perfect surroundings, Coverack is still a working harbour and the colourful array of boats bobbing around stand testament to the village’s ongoing fishing trade.

A gorgeous thatched cottage, Gunvor was named after a sailing ship that was wrecked at Black Head in 1912 and to this day, it retains a wooden beam from the ship above the fireplace. The cottage has since been beautifully renovated with bright, spacious rooms and elegant furnishings throughout. The two en-suite bedrooms upstairs boast stunning views of the harbour that will take your breath away when you wake up in the morning. Simply roll out of bed and wander down to the light kitchen where you can whip up a scrumptious breakfast to set you up for a day of exploring, or head to the quiet beach for a refreshing dip.

Underfloor heating throughout the cottage will keep your toes cosy after a day at the beach. Or, in the colder months, snuggle up on the comfortable sofa and bask in the warmth of the woodburner. Whether you go with friends, family or that special someone; there are so many ways to enjoy the fantastic surroundings of Gunvor Cottage, making it a great spot to really absorb everything that the Lizard peninsula has to offer.

The Crow’s Nest offers you the chance to explore the beauty of Cornwall’s north coast from an equally beautiful holiday home. Perhaps you’re looking for a coastal family retreat or a base to connect with friends after a day of exploring; with four double bedrooms and ample open plan living, it’s ideal for large groups.

An ever-changing seascape forms the backdrop to this spacious and welcoming holiday haven, with panoramic sea views enjoyed from most rooms. The stylish open-plan living space leads out through bi-fold doors onto a terrace where you can enjoy a delicious home cooked meal, or a morning coffee. Then after a day of adventures, the lounge provides the perfect environment to relax with a good book or cosy up and watch an all time favourite in front of the woodburner.

Port Isaac is an enchanting village with its narrow winding streets, local shops, cafés, galleries and restaurants, including Michelin star restaurant Nathan Outlaw, which provides fresh sea fare straight from the harbour. During the summer you might even be lucky enough to catch a live performance from the Fisherman’s Friends on the Platt with their charming sea shanties. Plus, Port Gaverne is only a short stroll away and children and adults alike will be mesmerised by the crystal clear blue water. For those looking for an adrenaline rush, why not try some coasteering, paddle boarding or kayaking?
