Coastal escapes September 2020

Beautiful stays in Praa Sands, St Ives and St Agnes.

Spindrift, Praa Sands

The shimmering white sand of Praa Sands beach and a glistening expanse of azure blue sea create a mesmerising backdrop for Spindrift.

Perched high above the beach, affording incredible views out across the ocean, Spindrift is a holiday home unlike any other. From breakfasts on the balcony watching early-bird surfers wait for the next wave, to lazy lunches in the sun and balmy summer nights surrounded by bubbles in the inviting hot tub, you couldn’t ask for more.

Spindrift is a serene space, both inside and out. The décor exudes a cool, laid-back style with bold artwork adding to the modern design. Budding cooks will love the fully equipped kitchen or for al-fresco eating there’s a great outdoor barbeque for family, sun drenched get-togethers on the terrace.

A flickering woodburner warms the toes after a day of exploring in the shoulder seasons and from the comfort of the sink-into sofas you can gaze out to sea from the large windows that frame the enticing view.

Spindrift is perfect for water-babies, lovers of the coastal lifestyle and furry friends alike. Praa Sands is dog friendly in the quieter months and with the South West Coast Path nearby, your four-legged friend will be treated to some of the most scenic walks in Cornwall.

Island Wastrel, St Ives

Island Wastrel is a magical oasis perched on the shoreline of Porthgwidden beach in the heart of St Ives. Offering a cool, contemporary, luxury retreat with parking for three cars, it provides a magnificent, modern counterbalance to the timeless beauty of the Cornish coastline on which it sits. This property accommodates six guests in style and comfort, allowing you to escape, relax and unwind. You can even bring your furry friends.

A wonderful hidden gem, Island Wastrel is the perfect mix of indoor chic and outdoor fun. Guests can feel the sun and enjoy a cool breeze in the large private terrace that boasts a luxurious hot tub, a large gas barbeque, dining table and ample soft furnishing.

The narrow, cobbled streets of St Ives transport you to the iconic harbour only a few hundred yards away. Here you will find the town’s famous galleries, restaurants and large selection of independent shops. Beach lovers are spoiled for choice as Island Wastrel looks out over Porthgwidden beach, a beautiful sheltered cove. The more adventurous will adore the larger, surf-friendly Blue Flag Porthmeor beach just around the corner.

This is the perfect setting to create special memories as the sun sets and the waves gently roll up the beach.

The Driftwood Spars, St Agnes

A historic coastal brewpub just a few hundred yards from Trevaunance Cove, at Driftwood Spars, you can stay in an AA four-star guest room, complete with a gorgeous en-suite bathroom and scintillating sea views.

The pub itself offers an excellent selection of locally brewed Cornish ale – some brewed across the road in the team’s very own brewery – and when it comes to dining, you’ll be treated to a menu filled with local produce, including fresh fish from the nearby cove.

Start the day right with a hearty Cornish breakfast, served in the pub’s sea-view dining room. Whilst you’re there, don’t forget to try the team’s homemade ‘marm-ale’ade’ – made from the pub’s own beer, gently spiced and, quite frankly, delicious!

For those who like to explore, Trevaunance Cove is just a few hundred yards away, while Chapel Porth – just three miles away – is well worth the walk, and is the perfect spot to while away an afternoon, particularly when the sun’s shining! Later on, you can settle down at The Crib Shack for a pint of Driftwood Spars Brewery Ale, and perhaps a cake or Callestick Farm ice cream – the perfect way to round off an afternoon spent in the great outdoors, before retreating to your room and recharging before your next day’s adventures.
