Coastal Escapes September 2023

Owl’s Nest, Hayle

Located on the edge of Hayle’s ‘Towans’, a three-mile stretch of coastal paradise from Hayle to Gwithian, sits Owl’s Nest, a newly built, dog-friendly holiday home that has been completed to exceptional standards and is just moments from one of Cornwall’s epic surfing beaches.

Owl’s Nest has utilised natural materials, hand-curated details and natural coastal light to create a calming and inviting space, inside and out, with accommodation for up to six guests. Some of its top features include a cosy wood burner in the open-plan living area, a freestanding bath tub in the principle bedroom and a separate games room for children and the ‘big kids’ of the family.

Although located in a quiet area of Hayle, in relative terms the property is not far from the bustling Cornish atmosphere. It is within walking distance to beaches, eateries and is an easy drive to some of Cornwall’s top destinations such as St Ives, Penzance and Marazion, all of which are less than twenty minutes away. Better yet, you’re in a fantastic position to enjoy spontaneous ramblings across the dunes, which sit right behind the property. Your perfect Cornish escape at Owl’s Nest is waiting…

Beach Pads, Lelant

Occupying a spectacular beach position overlooking St Ives Bay, these three seaside houses are a sensory paradise. Fantastic facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, two private hot tubs and an entertaining space for the whole group overlooking the ocean inside and outside. Enjoy an evening sitting around a stone fire pit just above the beach. If you prefer there is also space for quiet reflection and privacy away from the crowds. Ferry House and Ferryman’s Rest both enjoy conservatories allowing the outside inside, especially on a sunny winter’s day.

Boasting inescapable sea views, all houses are well equipped, offering open plan living spaces, whilst guests frequently comment on feeling both comfortable and cosy. If you could ever tire of the view there are TVs in the living areas and master bedrooms for curling up and watching a film. Alternatively, a moonlit beach stroll is a highly recommended heavenly experience, with only the sound of the waves to disturb you.

There is plenty for everyone to do with a sandy beach on your doorstep and a great links golf course only meters away. Water lovers can enjoy kayaking, kitesurfing, surf and SUP activities. Sea fishing from your doorstep is a popular pastime. The beach outside is dog friendly all year round and so perfect for doggy guests too. The South West Coast Path makes for a walker’s paradise, with St Ives just an amble away. It is remarkable to be so close to nature whilst having all the modern creature comforts you require close at hand.

Songbirds, Bude

Songbirds finds itself tucked away from the noise and busyness of day-to-day life, in a Cornish oasis made for relaxing. Painstakingly restored, this barn sits within the secluded grounds of 16th century farmhouse and although wonderfully private, every modern luxury has been considered, from hand-built kitchens and luxury bathrooms, to oversized sofas and sumptuous beds. Wander out through the doors from the large living spaces to the terraces and enjoy your own little paradise where there is even an area to play petanque to while away the afternoons.

Complete with a fire pit, barbeque and pizza oven, Songbirds is the perfect place to unwind and eat al fresco as the sun comes down on this little piece of heaven. A decked terrace at the bottom of the garden overlooks the large pond where you can take in the morning chorus with a warm coffee in hand to start the day in the most maginificent way. Don’t forget your camera and binoculars either, as Songbirds welcomes wildlife from all around, with red deer and stoats as well as numerous bird species regularly visiting the area.
