Coming together with John Bray

Rock based Estate Agents, John Bray & Partners, raise £20,000 for two local charities.

To mark their 50th birthday, John Bray & Partners organised a charity art auction in aid of the Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF) and the Wadebridge Foodbank, and what a wonderful way to celebrate.

Drawing to a close on 18th August of this year, the online auction managed to raise an incredible figure of over £15,000 from the sale of 28 artworks, all portraying fantastic aspects of north Cornwall scenery and life, donated by 26 talented and generous north Cornish artists, photographers, illustrators, and individuals. John Bray & Partners generously rounded the sum up to an easily shareable £20,000, with £10,000 going to each of their nominated charities. The oil paintings ‘Still of the Night’ (Polzeath) by Suki Wapshott and ‘Wheal Coates’ (St Agnes) by Joe Armstrong were two of the highest achieving lots.

Josephine Ashby of John Bray & Partners expressed her joy at the success of the auction: “We can’t think of a better way to have celebrated the agency’s 50th birthday. Never has a vibrant and supportive community been such an important aspect when it comes to property choice. Cornwall is such a fantastic place to live, work and visit but it is easy to forget that it is also one of the poorest counties in England. The contrast is enormous and support and awareness of this has never been more essential. We’re enormously grateful to the wonderful artists who helped us with this auction, it was a magnificent showcase of talent. The proceeds will provide much-needed support for these two fantastic charities that are very close to the agency’s heart.”

“We are a lifeline for the people who approach us for help who literally have nowhere else to turn,” explains Jacqui White, MBE, of the Wadebridge Foodbank, which also covers Padstow, Bodmin, Camelford and surrounding areas. “The funds raised through this brilliant art auction will be used to supply food, hygiene and household goods to people in need. We also work with our clients to offer signposting and support towards long-term solutions for their current circumstances.”

“This continues to be an incredibly challenging time for many people,” adds Jane Hartley DL, CCF Chairman. “We are moved by the generosity of people who want to support Cornish communities who donate so we can help amazing local charities like Wadebridge Foodbank. We are very grateful to John Bray & Partners and the artists who made this auction possible.”
