Dreaming of the Roseland

We discover the true indulgence and style of Hotel Tresanton with a first hand account from our very own Claire Bentley.

Hotel Tresanton is owned by designer and hotelier Olga Polizzi. The hotel is a cluster of five houses on the edge of St Mawes, one of the most idyllic fishing villages in Cornwall and was originally created as a yachtsman’s club, with all rooms boasting incredible views towards the sea and St Anthony’s lighthouse.

Our very own Claire Bentley enjoyed a tranquil stay at the hotel following her wedding, and all steps were taken to make her and her husband Adam’s stay a memorable one. Claire tells us: “We had such a lovely time at Tresanton, on arrival we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of champagne, our room was beautiful and we had a view of the ocean and the yacht Pinuccia to admire.” The magnificent eight metre classic yacht, Pinuccia is owned and chartered by Tresanton. Built in 1938 to race for Italy, she is available from May until the end of September for sailing trips around Falmouth Bay in search of empty, unspoilt beaches.

After two years redesigning all 30 bedrooms with antiques and Cornish art, the hotel opened in the summer of 1998 and was the first hotel of its kind in Cornwall. Olga Polizzi tells us: “This year we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Tresanton and it still remains true to its origins with its chic, decorative and understated style.”

This detail hasn’t gone unnoticed by Claire who says: “All the rooms were beautifully designed with a homely rather than extravagant feel.” The hotel now also benefits from a Beach Club, bringing a touch of the Amalfi coast to Cornwall with three terraces, sun loungers and other seating areas for you to relax in.

All in all, Hotel Tresanton offers the perfect balance between hospitality and service which allows you to relax and unwind from the fast pace of daily life. Claire can testify to this and tells us: “Tresanton is true indulgence in a uniquely stylish way.” Don’t take our word for it though – experience the indulgence of Tresanton for yourself, because trust us – it’s worth it!
