Eat, sleep, repeat

A warm welcome awaits you at Travellers Rest, a place to rest, refuel and relax in natural surroundings.

If you are looking for a traditional warm and welcoming experience, then we’ve found just that at Traveller’s Rest. Offering a relaxed Cornish pub with onsite glamping, the team take great pride in their friendly and informal approach to dining. The food is authentic and uses fresh local ingredients wherever possible, including a fresh fish of the day caught and landed within the county wherever possible.

Great care is taken in preparing and producing their own unique versions of great pub classics; for example a rich and hearty steak and ale pie with slow cooked tender beef. Head Chef Becky Thorbes is vegan, so is experienced in creating dishes that can be adapted to various dietary requirements including gluten free, vegetarian and, of course, vegan options. “The ingredients are the highlight of any dish and ensuring that we do them justice by cooking them well and partnering them with complementary herbs and spices is of the upmost importance to us,” says Becky.

Sustainability is also high on the agenda at The Travellers Rest, with plans in place to evolve their practices and futureproof the business by 2025. “We have been exploring the use of wind and solar to supply the pub with energy as well as removing any equipment requiring fossil fuels,” says owner Martin Watts. “We have also addressed our supply chain to ensure we are minimising our impact on the environment by using suppliers who meet our high standards. We have introduced an allotment and poultry keeping in a community outdoor space and will shortly be involving local primary schools in the use of these facilities as an educational tool for teaching next generations the importance of caring for the land we share with nature.”

Alongside the pub, Travellers Rest has a selection of luxury glamping pods, some of which are pet friendly, and all with incredible views of the north Cornish coastline. The pods offer home-from-home comfort as they are all double glazed with underfloor heating, a kitchenette and a bathroom with shower, with the added bonus of being immersed in incredible natural surroundings. The site benefits from a delightful wildlife pond, where you can expect to see dragonflies circling or young starlings being taught how to scoop up water in their beaks as they fly over the pond.
