The namesake of a three-bearded rockpool fish in its hometown of St Ives, the artistic reach of Whistlefish has extended well beyond its base in the south west.
Founded by artist Lyn Thompson, Whistlefish designs and prints stunning greeting cards, art and stationery, as well as providing the discerning shopper with a range of beautiful gifts, especially perfect if you’re buying for somebody who holds Cornwall close to their heart.
From originally starting out 24 years ago as a greeting card wholesaler, the company now has galleries throughout the south west in all classic Cornish beauty spots, including St Ives, Padstow and Newquay.
Despite the uncertain outlook caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, it is still a time for optimism at Whistlefish, best signified by the opening of a brand-new gallery in Salcombe, Devon – taking the total number of outlets to 13. Wherever you are in the south west, Whistlefish’s range of artisanal wares are never out of reach. In fact, with the range of international shipping options on their website, you can find Whistlefish cards wherever in the world you may be. Founder Lyn is keen to support artists both locally and nationally and from them, her team handpicks a selection of their favourites in traditional, contemporary and modern artistic styles, which inspires the delightful range of products on the shelves of each Whistlefish gallery.
Since the lockdown Whistlefish has been keenly awaiting the chance to reopen their network of galleries and are just delighted that from 4th July they will be able to welcome their lovely customers back through their doors. With the necessary Covid-secure measures in place, holiday makers can confidently pick their favourite 10 cards for £8 once again!
The range of cards that are produced by Whistlefish has evolved over the years and is now extensive enough to cover all ranges of occasions, for all manner of recipients. With a team of talented designers based at their Cornish HQ, Whistlefish are producing and releasing fresh new card designs throughout the year.
Over the years the company has built up quite a following of long-term customers who already love the brand, and with plans in place for continued growth into 2020, this is an exciting time for the Whistlefish family.
