Festive Fowey

Bringing together the widest selection of local traders in Cornwall.

Always one of our favourite events in the calendar, Fowey Christmas Market is Cornwall’s largest Christmas market with over 200 exhibitors across five venues, attracting more than 15,000 visitors across the weekend. Sponsored by Lantic Bay Holidays and proudly supported by us here at Cornwall Living, Fowey Christmas Market returns on Friday 6th, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December, for its 15th year!

We always look forward to the late-night shopping on Friday, and perusing the many independent shops and stalls, which are open throughout the weekend. This year the Leisure Centre Venue (open Saturday and Sunday) has expanded, now hosting over 60 exhibitors to add to the mix. The gift, craft, art and jewellery market on Town Quay is the perfect place to pick up unique, high-quality Christmas presents for the festive period. There are also traders on Webb Street and within the Town Hall, with even more wares on display. All in all, you can expect over 200 quality exhibitors across Town Quay, Albert Quay, Leisure Centre, Town Hall and Webb Street, as well as the great selection of local high-end boutiques.

Of course all this Christmas shopping soon works up an appetite. Thankfully, ‘A Bite of Cornwall’ Christmas Food & Drink Market will be returning to Albert Quay, showcasing some of the region’s finest food and drink to take home and stock up on in time for Christmas. Hog roasts, mulled wine and cider will also be served throughout the day, and you’ll find plenty of bars and cafés serving even more culinary delights throughout the town.

This year, the Leisure Centre Venue will be under the overall Fowey market management and will see an upgrade to include its own array of gifts, crafts, jewellers, skincare, food and drink to enjoy, with the bonus of some street food and a café. This venue will be open on Saturday and Sunday only.

The event, this year, kicks off on the Friday with the Parade of Light from 6.30pm. Due to arrive by tug boat at Berrills Yard – the lifeboat pontoon – Santa himself is set to lead the parade through the streets of Fowey, so be sure to bring your lanterns, torches, twinkly lights or flashing headbands and take part. This will be shortly followed by the Fowey Christmas Lights Switch On at 7pm and then the Children’s Disco in the town hall from 7pm.

Many of Fowey’s shops, cafés and pubs are dog friendly, and dogs are welcome in the marquees, but do be mindful that it will be crowded. Cashpoints are available outside Barclays bank close to the church. If you’re driving, follow the directions to Main Car Park. Parking will also be available at the leisure centre. A shuttle bus will be travelling between the town, Leisure Centre Venue and all car parks every 15 minutes, however, the town is within walking distance if you prefer to go on foot. Free parking will be available on Saturday 7th December in the main Fowey car park and Caffa Mill car park, and at Readymoney car park on both Saturday and Sunday, with the town bus running between the main car park and the church throughout the weekend. We’ll look forward to seeing you there!
