Food with a View

The Nare’s sea-view restaurants are where exquisite British cuisine meets fine wines.

The Nare’s reputation for fine dining has been established over many years, with both of its restaurants receiving recognition for culinary excellence. As a country house hotel by the sea, The Nare is a specialist when it comes to seafood dishes and its Cornish beef sourced from local farms is amongst some of the best on offer.

The Dining Room at The Nare has spectacular sea views on three sides and offers traditional five-course dining. The table d’hôte menu, which changes every evening, is a classic silver service affair, where you’ll find Portloe lobster on the menu every night as well as an abundance of seafood and other local produce… and of course generous helpings of Cornish clotted cream!

The Nare’s Traditional Sunday luncheon in the Dining Room is a gracious and traditional affair. We recommend you arrive in good time to savour an aperitif and canapés in the cocktail lounge before being shown to an elegant sea-view table. The four-course menu begins with a choice of starters including locally smoked salmon and a selection of hors d’oeuvres served from the trolley. The main course is a full roast with all the trimmings. Succulent beef is carved at the table by the chef and there is always a fish and vegetarian main course option available.

To follow, choose from guéridon-served flambés, homemade puddings or a selection of West Country cheeses and vintage ports to savour. Coffee and petit fours complete a delectable lunch.

For more relaxed dining, the classic yachting decor, teak panelling and large windows in The Quarterdeck creates a comfortable atmosphere. It’s a great place to enjoy good food, great company and stunning views over Gerrans Bay; ideal for afternoon tea by the fire, wine tastings, bridge hands or private dining.

The Nare has an extensive wine cellar with classic and interesting wines from around the world selected and laid down with the experience and insight of Proprietor, Toby Ashworth. The wine list also includes several of the best wines from local vineyards, who owe much of their success to the subtropical climate enjoyed on the south Cornish coast.
