Get ahead of the gardening game this New Year

As we settle into the New Year, it’s a joy to plan for the gardening season ahead. Bodmin Nursery suggests some projects you can start this January.

If the weather is poor, give your greenhouse and pots a good clean – nothing beats being ready to go when the weather starts to pick up! Winter prune any apples and pears – good for shaping and possibly the tree’s health. You can buy your seeds too, ready to commence sowing.  It’s also a perfect time to plan your summer-flowers such as lilies and dahlias.

If you love growing your own, look out for new-season seed potatoes, as well as onion sets, shallots and garlic. Fruit bushes such as raspberries, gooseberries and blackcurrants can also be planted now.

The knowledgeable and enthusiastic Bodmin Nursery team is always happy to help you and your garden, so why not pop in and make a start?
