Easter menu arrives at  No 1 Rock Road

Overlooking the Camel estuary, soak up those eagerly awaited rays of spring sun from the beautiful terrace of No 1 Rock Road, perhaps after a walk on the beach. Maybe you’re just popping over on the ferry from Padstow with the dog in tow, in which case you’ll be pleased to hear that No 1 Rock Road is pet friendly.

Owner Emma tells us: “The new seasonal menu is ready; it’s fresh, local and exciting with an array of fresh meat, fish, vegetarian and gluten free dishes, from posh chips to the already renowned seafood platter.”

The breakfast menu is equally tempting, perfect for starting your day the way you mean to go on, with afternoon teas, milkshakes and smoothies also promising to please. Private functions are well served here too, with a well stocked bar serving a great selection of beers, wines and cocktails.

Ann’s Pasties makes a return to Porthleven!

There’s not many an occasion that isn’t made better with a hot pasty in hand and we’re delighted that Ann’s Pasties has now opened a new shop right here in Porthleven, the home of Cornwall Living.

Ann’s Pasties is very much a family business, originally opened by Ann and mother Hettie in Porthleven back in 1985. As the business flourished, Ann’s son Fergus stepped in to help and he now gets the crimping seal of approval from Granny Hettie. Ann’s Pasties are all lovingly handmade, from locally sourced meat and vegetables and crimped to perfection. Organic flour and a generations’ old recipe makes for thin, crisp pastry on the outside and a succulent layered filling on the inside. Be sure to pick one up next time you’re in Porthleven or if you want to take home a taste of Cornwall, you can have Ann’s Pasties delivered across the UK.

Special diets are second nature at The Cornwall Hotel!

The team at The Cornwall Hotel believe that delicious food should be enjoyed without compromise, something we can definitely get on board with here at Cornwall Living! In fact, the team’s new spring menus feature a wealth of options for guests who follow a gluten-free, dairy-free or vegan diet, something that’s still frustratingly rare, despite Cornwall’s access to some of the finest produce in the UK!

So, whether it’s the Curio Gin Cured Sea Trout, Cornish Crab Risotto or the aptly named ‘Colonial Spices’ featuring a chickpea and vegetable masala, The Cornwall Hotel’s dietary delicacies balance special requirements with extra special tastes. Gluten-free and vegan afternoon teas are also available, so even those with specialist dietary requirements can enjoy one of England’s long standing foodie traditions!

Dine in the opulent Elephant Bar & Brasserie from 12pm until 5pm, with dinner available from 6pm until 9.30pm. Booking does come highly recommended, so be sure to give the team a call!

Food lovers rejoice!

We here at Cornwall Living are eagerly awaiting this year’s Porthleven Food Festival, and we hear that it’s set to be a
big one!

As well as the usual line up of events in the Chef’s Theatre (including a display from patron Antony Worrall Thompson) and massive choice of foodie vendors and artisans around quayside, this year’s theme is ‘Anti Plastic? Fantastic!’, meaning revellers can indulge themselves guilt free, knowing that they’re supporting the elimination of plastic waste.

There’s also a fantastic line up already in place for the evenings.
