Dogs Love Cornwall Living

Holidays with hounds in mind

A place where dogs are wholeheartedly welcomed.

At Kilminorth, dogs are not an afterthought on the booking form but part of the guest list from the outset. Fourteen self-catering cottages sit within open countryside, offering room to settle in properly and relax. Several have enclosed gardens designed for safe, off-lead roaming, with a selection of cottages also featuring private hot tubs. The approach is thoroughly thought through, built around the realities of travelling with a pet.

The Wild Meadow has become a draw in its own right. Fitted with agility equipment, it gives energetic dogs space to run at full tilt or practise a little training before retreating to the comfort of their cottage. Close by, an outdoor bar keeps refreshments within reach, alongside a store of tennis balls and a well-used dog-stick library. On arrival, a generous welcome pack awaits, and each dog receives a personalised tag to wear during their stay, a simple measure that offers reassurance when exploring new ground. After a coastal ramble or riverside wander into nearby Looe, a dedicated dog shower makes light work of sandy paws and brackish fur before anyone returns to the cottage.

The estate’s private woodland paths and river walk provide easy outings without the car, while the heated outdoor pool, tennis court and bar ensure that human guests are equally occupied.

Weddings are also on the calendar, and dogs are wholeheartedly welcomed. Because the best holidays and celebrations are the ones where no one gets left behind – especially the four-legged family members.
